MORTALITY  SCHEDULES

The Mortality Schedules started 1850 and 1880was the last year.  When the Federal Census taker went door to door this was added to his tasks. If it was done correctly, you should be able to follow this record with the Federal census records to find the household the person listed here was a member of.

Supposedly, the people were those that died within the year of the censuses.  However, in other counties that I researched, I  have found people that had died 1-3 years prior or, not listed at all.  Therefore, I suggest you use this information as a 'door opener' or "guide".

Some names may be mis-spelled and no attempts were made to correct them, as I  strong believer to put it "as it is written".  Also, some names were hard to read but we tried our best.

On the microfilm, each page contained 15 columns, of which most of them wre left blank.  Therefore, I used the columns that contained information.   If a column is not listed that is because there was no entries for it.

I did Clay county and several surrounding counties using microfilms between 1969-1999, hoping to find my own lines.  No luck for me, but maybe for you...  When I get the surrounding counties done I will send them to the coordinator to put on that site with a link from here.

Smiles!
