Edward and Martha THOMPSON came to Clay Co, IL from Marion Co, KY with Martha's mother and siblings. Martha's mother was sister to Edward's mother, so they were first cousins. They are descendents of the early Catholics to St. Mary's Co, MD who migrated en masse to KY after the Revolutionary War. The moved to Clay co in the 1850's, approx 1854. Edward bought up a some of the unused railroad right of way land, in Twp 04n, Range 06E. Martha's MATTINGLY siblings laterleft for parts unknown. Their son Peter ended up with their last house, as his obituary reported he died in 1920 in the house he was born in. I have copies of the death certificates of Peter and Susan Matilda Allen THOMPSON's death certificates.
