Mrs. Sarah Jane Shock, daughter of Henry H. and Kathrine Belt, was born
in Decatur county, Indiana, June 3, 1859, and departed this life September
2, 1929, age 70 years, 2 months and 29 days.
She moved to Illinois
when a young girl and spent the rest of her life in and around Clay City,
Illinois. She was united in marriage to John Shock, who preceded her in
death in the year of 1916. To this union was born four children, three boys.
Burley and Sherman, of Clay City; Raymond, of Galveston, Texas; one
daughter, Emma Hilderbrand, of Clay City. She was converted and united with
the Christian church several years ago, and lived true to her faith always
confessing Christ as her Savior and Lord. She leaves four children, an aged
brother, Henry Belt, of Clay City; ten grandchildren, and a host of
relatives and friends. She was a good wife and mother, a good neighbor and
was loved and respected by all who knew her.

And life's long warfare closed at

Her soul is found in peace.

And while eternal ages run,

Savior's joy."

Burley Shock, by the pastor, Ben F. Adams. Interment at the I. O. O. F.
cemetery, Clay City, Illinois.
